Adventure Retreats: Small-Group Active Travel for Adults

An adventure retreat is a small-group trip built around time outdoors: hiking to waterfalls, boat rides along sea cliffs, swimming holes, and wildlife walks after dark, with real rest in between. We take care of the lodging, airport transfers, and every detail, so all you need to bring is your curiosity.

A Note from Lindsay

Why an adventure retreat?

I was 19 the first time I left the country: 25 days of backpacking, sea kayaking, and white-water rafting in New Zealand, with a freshly torn ACL. A year later, I spent 75 days in the Alaskan wilderness with NOLS. It’s still one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and it showed me what happens when people slow down, test themselves a little, and connect with the people around them.
That’s what I look for in every Adventure Retreat: adventure as much as you’d like, or simply enjoy having nowhere to be. You don’t need to be an athlete. You just need to be curious.

A Day on an Adventure Retreat

What a day actually looks like

Every itinerary is different, and everything is optional. Here’s how most days on our Adventure Retreats go.

Optional meditation, journaling, or a movement class, then breakfast together. Most mornings bring the day’s outing, like the hike to the turquoise Río Celeste in Costa Rica or a boat tour into the sea caves along Portugal’s Algarve coast.

Lunch together, usually around 12:30. On outing days it’s part of the adventure, like lunch and a beach stop after a morning on the Algarve cliffs.

Free time is built in. Swim in a jungle swimming hole, soak in the hot tub, wander a fishing town, or read by the rooftop pool. We’re happy to book extras like a massage.

Group dinner around 6:30 or 7:00. Some nights add a guided rainforest night walk, yin yoga with live piano, or a sound bath. Then early to bed, or not.
